Maxime Brown’s multi-disciplinary practice takes apart an idea and then reconstructs it, connecting the many far-flung dots into a single theme. By questioning our cultural relation to space – that is our environment structured by the primary human need for communication by means of its ever-changing modes – his work lends itself as the outlet of a perspective of our normalities and normativities, as well as our own conception of them. The scope of his practice portrays a collective contemporary psyche blurred with an individual-level desire for true connection with space, the body, the self within and one another.
Maxime Brown (Québec City, QC, 1994) currently lives and work in Montréal. He is also completing his Bachelor of Fine Arts with a Studio Arts major at Concordia University.
