I'm an American-born Cultural Studies student in Montreal who wishes desperately that I further pursued art rather than academia.
I find flipping through travel, fashion, interior, or almost any kind of magazine to be immensely therapeutic, as I often enjoy their initial aesthetic and intellectual content, but also look forward to re-purposing something that may otherwise get thrown away. From magazine pages I pick and choose the colours and textures that appeal to me most, and then create as I go.
My collage work is a manifestation of my day-dreams and childhood ideals of the world – glistening figures, ethereal landscapes, and infinite geographical makeups. I’ve been shamelessly hoarding magazines then cutting up and haphazardly pasting their images together for about 7 years. I don’t believe it’s something I’ll ever truly give up, as I constantly feel the need to re-purpose items and create something unique from there.I'm an American-born Cultural Studies student in Montreal who wishes desperately that I further pursued art rather than academia.
